Four LeFlore County football teams scored wins Friday night in Week 1 action.
Arkoma, Panama, Poteau and Talihina all won on Friday while Heavener, Spiro and Pocola lost. Bokoshe fell to Prue on Friday night.
Arkoma bounced back from its loss to Southwest Covenant last week with a 58-26 win over Arkansas Christian Academy. The Mustangs host Webbers Falls next week.
Panama got a big game by Sydney Fout to win at Heavener, 46-6 (see STORY). The Razorbacks improve to 2-0 and host Central Sallisaw next week. The Wolves, 0-2, visit Stilwell next week.
Poteau broke the game open in the second half to take a 52-17 win over Durant in both teams’ openers. The Pirates led only 24-17 in the third quarter before scoring 28 straight points to pull away. Poteau visits Tulsa Hale next week.
Spiro stepped up a class and lost at home to Roland, 34-28. Roland improves to 1-1 while Spiro is 0-1 and visits Muldrow next week.
Talihina had to wait a year to get revenge on Wilburton and did it in a big way Friday night as the Golden Tigers pounded Wilburton, 46-21. The Golden Tigers (2-0) visit Antlers next week.
Pocola crossed over the state line to play at Hackett, Ark. and the Indians absorbed a 40-0 blanking. Pocola (0-1) hosts Poteau’s JV on Thursday.
Bokoshe also visits Cave Springs on Thursday.
