POTEAU—Pocola ruined Poteau’s senior night in fast-pitch softball Tuesday by downing the Lady Pirates 12-1 in both teams’ last game before heading into the postseason.
Pocola plays in a 3A regional at Oktaha against Meeker on Thursday at 2 p.m. Poteau hosts Okmulgee in 4A bi-district games Wednesday in a best-of-three tournament.
Dache Benge homered and was 2-3 with three RBI and two RBI to lead Pocola. Kenzie Tuck doubled while going 2-3 with a RBI, Kena Chitwood went 2-3 with a RBI, Shakyrah Gladness was 2-3 with a run, Summer Perkins doubled and was 1-4 with three runs and three RBI and Amanda Rapin went 1-1 with a double, two runs and a RBI.
Chitwood was the winning pitcher for the Lady Indians, going 3.0 innings with three hits and three strikeouts while Gladness threw the final 2.0 innings, striking out two and allowing one hit.
