WISTER—Wister fought back through the loser’s bracket and defeated Rattan, 7-2, on Saturday to win a Class A district tournament and advance to the regional tournament next week.
Senior Bryar Ward provided all the offense the Wildcats would need, going 3-3 with two home runs, a double, five RBI and three runs. Ward doubled in the first inning before homering in the second and sixth inning.
Trey Krebbs was the winning pitcher for Wister, going 7.0 innings with nine hits and four strikeouts.
Colten Terry was 1-2 with a double and a run scored and Caleb Stacy also doubled in a 1-4 game.
Wister opened the tournament with a win before losing to Rattan on Thursday to fall into the loser’s bracket. The Wildcats defeated Howe and Rattan in 11 innings on Friday to set up Saturday’s championship game.
Eighth-ranked Wister improves to 25-6 while No. 15 Rattan closes its season at 16-9.
