Week 2 football games for LeFlore County teams came early on Thursday with Pocola defeating Poteau’s JV, 24-12, and Cave Springs downing Bokoshe, 58-28.
The other six county teams are in action on Friday.
Heavener (0-2) travels to Stilwell (1-0), Poteau (1-0) goes to Tulsa Hale (0-1), Spiro (0-1) visits Muldrow (0-2), Talihina (2-0) takes the trip to take on Antlers (0-1), Central Sallisaw (0-1) is at Panama (2-0) and Arkoma (1-1) welcomes Webbers Falls (0-1).
Heavener opened with a 30-7 loss at Haskell before falling at home to Panama, 46-6, last week. The Wolves will have a rough road to win their first game as Stilwell defeated Muldrow, 52-47, last week in an offensive showcase.
Poteau scored the final 28 points last week to finish off Durant, 52-17, and visits a struggling Tulsa Hale team, which lost its opener to Tulsa Webster, 33-12.
After losing a big lead in a loss to Roland last week, Spiro is again playing up a class when the Bulldogs visit Muldrow, which lost in Week 0 to Vian in addition to last week’s defeat by Stilwell.
Panama looks to improve to 3-0 when it hosts Central. The Razorbacks opened with easy wins over Warner and Heavener. Central was defeated by Commerce last week.
Talihina, the top-ranked Class A team in the state, also seeks to go 3-0 when the Golden Tigers visit Antlers, which lost its opener to Savanna last week.
Arkoma will try and get over the .500 mark when the Mustangs host Webbers Falls.
All of this week’s games are non-district contests.
