Arkoma, Panama and Poteau won Week 2 football games on Friday night while top-ranked Talihina, Heavener and Spiro were defeated.
The best game of the evening was at Panama as the Razorbacks improved to 3-0 with a 56-54 win over Central Sallisaw. Panama will try to stay undefeated next week at Subiaco Academy.
Arkoma and Poteau rolled to easy wins. Arkoma defeated Webbers Falls, 52-6, at home to improve to 2-1 going into next week’s home game with Midway.
Poteau improved to 2-0 with a 64-14 win at Tulsa Hale. The Pirates host DeQueen, Ark. (1-1) next week in the final tuneup before opening district play in two weeks.
Talihina, ranked No. 1 in the latest AP prep poll, was without several starters at Antlers and it hurt the Golden Tigers as they suffered a 29-6 loss to the Bearcats. Talihina drops to 2-1 and hosts Poteau’s JV on Thursday.
Heavener fell to 0-3 after a 55-13 loss at Class 4A Stilwell (see STORY). The Wolves welcome Valliant next week in Heavener’s homecoming game.
Muldrow was too much for Spiro, rolling to a 46-13 win. Spiro drops to 0-2 going into a difficult road game next week at undefeated Stigler.
On Thursday, Pocola beat Poteau’s JV, 24-12, while Bokoshe fell to Cave Springs, 58-28.
Pocola (1-1) goes to Cedarville, Ark. next week while Bokoshe (0-2) hosts Graham.
