House Bill 1073 would require DHS to fully fund the Advantage Home and Community-based Waiver Program that allows aging adults to be cared for in their homes. It also would require full funding for senior nutrition programs and for Developmental Disability Service Programs. Ensuring these programs are fully funded at the state level also ensures they receive federal matching funds.
“Lawmakers are called to protect the vulnerable, and this bill is meant to do just that,” said West, R-Heavner. “My hope is that this measure forces DHS officials to roll up their sleeves to do the hard work of finding efficiencies instead of using scare tactics and pulling programs that are essential to so many Oklahomans.”
West is a supporter of auditing agency budgets to root out government waste and inefficiencies. He represents House District 3, which includes most of LeFlore County.
