WISTER—Wister’s girls swept Panama in a Class 2A district fast-pitch softball tournament Thursday to advance to the regional tournament next week.
The Lady Wildcats took the first game, 9-1, before wrapping up the championship with a 14-5 victory in the second contest.
Sage Anson got the win in both contests for Wister. In the opener, she threw 6.0 innings with four hits and six strikeouts while in the second game, Anston went 5.0 innings with six hits and four strikeouts.
In the opening game, Kate Hammons homered and was 2-3 with three runs and a RBI, Braxtyn McMillin doubled while going 2-2 with three RBI and two runs, Cailey Yochum also doubled while going 2-4 with a pair of runs, Kati Patterson finished 2-4 with a RBI and a run and Keylee Shipman had a 2-4 game with a RBI.
Wister scored nine runs in the top of the first in the second inning to grab an early lead. Hammons tripled and doubled while going 3-3 with three runs and two RBI, Anson also tripled and was 1-2 with three RBI and two runs, Yochum doubled and was 1-2 with a RBI and a run, Patterson went 2-4 with two RBI and a run and Shipman knocked in a pair of runs while going 1-4 with a run.
The Lady Wildcats advance to next week’s regional tournament.
