WISTER—Wister stayed alive in the Class A regional tournament with a 5-4 win in 11 innings over Rattan on Friday to force a championship game between the two teams Saturday at noon.
After falling into the loser’s bracket Thursday with a 4-3 loss to Rattan, Wister won a pair of close games Friday.
Earlier in the day, the Wildcats defeated Howe, 6-5, before the win over Rattan.
Against Rattan, Austin Brooks doubled to bring in the go-ahead run in the top of the 11th inning. Both teams scored a pair of runs in the ninth inning to keep the game going. Wister scored two runs in the top of the fifth to take a 2-1 lead before the Rams tied the score in the bottom half of the inning.
Bryar Ward was the winning pitcher for Wister. He went 6.1 innings, striking out seven and allowing three hits. He also had a big game at the plate, going 2-4 with a pair of triples while scoring three runs and knocking in two.
Brooks was 2-5 with a RBI and Jeffery Morris finished with a double and was 2-3 with two runs.
In the opening game, Wister eliminated Howe to advance to the championship game. Morris doubled and was 2-2 with two runs, Colten Terry also had a double and was 1-2, Ward went 2-3 with three runs, Kaleb Speers knocked in four runs while going 2-3 with a run and Kadin Repass was 2-4 with a RBI.
