MENA, Ark.—The fifth running of the Talimena 13.1 run and relay is set for March 10.
The race begins at Janssen Park in Mena, running up Mena Street and over the Talimena Drive to the Queen Wilhelmina State Park.
It features not only a running challenge, but showcases the area from the city and up the Talimena Drive that overlooks some of the most scenic views of the National Forest.
The Talimena Drive is a National Scenic Byway extending 54 miles from near Talihina to just north of Mena.
The event is a fundraiser for the Polk County Developmental Center of Mena, which serves mentally and physically challenged adults and children in Polk and Scott counties, as well as the surrounding area.
