Area fishing report 1-4-2023 from the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife.

 

Blue River

January 3. Elevation is normal, water temperature 47°F and clear. (USGS Lake Level) Rainbow trout excellent on in-line spinnerbaits, midges, nymphs, PowerBait, and spoons around creek channels, river channel, and rocks. Comments: Orange and chartreuse mouse tails have been producing good numbers for bait fisherman. Various nymphs, midges and egg patterns have been catching lots of fish for the fly fisherman and women. Report submitted by Ethan Lovelace, biologist at the Blue River Public Fishing and Hunting Area.

 

Broken Bow

December 30. Elevation is normal and rising, water temperature 53°F and clear. (USACE Lake Level) Largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass fair on Alabama rigs, crankbaits, flukes, plastic baits, spoons around brush structure, channels, creek channels, points, standing timber. Crappie fair on hair jigs, jigs, minnows around brush structure, standing timber. Report submitted by Dru Polk, game warden stationed in McCurtain County.

 

Eufaula

December 30. Elevation is 4 ft. below normal, water temperature 47°F and stained. (USACE Lake Level) Largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass good on buzz baits, crankbaits, jerk baits, and plastic baits around brush structure, channels, points, and rocks. Blue, channel, and flathead catfish good on cut bait, live bait, and shad around channels, main lake, river channel, and river mouth. Crappie fair on hair jigs and spoons around brush structure, docks, and riprap. Report submitted by Jake Rowland, game warden stationed in McIntosh County.


Lower Mountain Fork

December 30. Elevation is normal, water temperature 46°F and clear. Rainbow trout excellent on PowerBait, small lures, tube jigs, and worms around creek channels, dam, river channel, rocks, and spillway. Report submitted by Mark Hannah, game warden stationed in McCurtain County.

 

McGee Creek

December 30. Elevation is 1 ft. below normal, water temperature 41°F and murky. (USACE Lake Level) Channel and flathead catfish excellent on chicken liver, cut bait, dough bait, shad, shrimp, and worms around flats, points, river mouth, and shorelines. Largemouth and spotted bass good on Alabama rigs, bill baits, crankbaits, jerk baits, plastic baits, and sassy shad around brush structure, coves, docks, and rock. Crappie fair on jigs, small lures, and tube jigs around brush structure, main lake, rocks, and standing timber. Report submitted by Shay Loudermilk, game warden stationed in Atoka County.

 

Pine Creek

December 30. Elevation is 3 ft. above normal and falling, water temperature 49°F and murky. (USACE Lake Level) Largemouth bass fair on Alabama rigs, plastic baits, and spoons around points and river channel. Crappie good on jigs, minnows, and spoons around brush structure, points, and river channel. Channel catfish good on cut bait around main lake. Report submitted by Mark Hannah, game warden stationed in McCurtain County.

 

Robert S. Kerr

December 30. Elevation is normal, water temperature 46°F and murky. (USACE Lake Level) Crappie good on hair jigs and jigs around creek channels, river channel, and river mouth. Blue, channel, and flathead catfish good on chicken liver, hot dogs, minnows, shad, and sunfish below the dam, main lake, river channel, river mouth, and tailwater. Largemouth and spotted bass good on crankbaits and plastic baits below the dam, brush structure, points, and rocks. Report submitted by Logan Shimp, game warden stationed in Haskell County.

 

Sardis

January 1. Elevation is above normal, water temperature 47°F and stained. (USACE Lake Level) Largemouth and spotted bass slow on bill baits, plastic baits, and spinnerbaits around brush structure, creek channels, points, and standing timber. Blue catfish slow on cut bait, shad, stinkbait, and worms around main lake and standing timber. Crappie slow on jigs, minnows, and tube jigs around brush structure and standing timber. Report submitted by Thomas Gillham, game warden stationed in Pushmataha County.

 

Wister

December 30. Elevation is normal, water temperature 38°F and murky. (USACE Current Lake Level) Largemouth bass slow on bill baits and jigs around brush structure, channels, creek channels, and river channel. Blue catfish fair on chicken liver, cut bait, and hot dogs around main lake. Crappie good on jigs and minnows around brush structure, channels, and river channel. Report submitted by James Williams, game warden stationed in Le Flore County.
