Arkoma splits district games

Arkoma split a pair of Class A district tournament semifinal basketball games Friday night.

Arkoma’s girls lost to Cave Springs, 43-29, in the opener before the Mustangs advanced to the championship game Saturday against Cave Springs’ boys with a 44-35 victory over Keota. Arkoma plays Keota 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

In the opener, Cave Springs gained control early and built the lead throughout the contest to get the win and advance to the championship game Saturday against Keota’s girls.

Kaitlyn Glasgow led Arkoma with 12 points. She also grabbed seven rebounds.

In the late game, the Mustangs trailed by two at the half before outscoring Keota, 17-2 in the third quarter for good.

Jordan Karich led Arkoma with 18 points, including 12 during the third quarter rally. Deuce Walden had 10 points and had nine rebounds. Carl Brake grabbed 14 rebounds for the Mustangs.
