Commissioner’ minutes 2-26-2024

The Board of County Commissioners, LeFlore County, State of Oklahoma, met in a Regular Business Meeting Moonday with Chairman Jamie Oliver presiding. Also present were Vice-Chair Vallard Campbell, Member Josh Blaylock and County Clerk Kelli Ford. 

The following action was taken by the board:

  • Chairman Jamie Oliver called meeting to order
  • Motion was made by Jamie Oliver and seconded by Vallard Campbell to approve the minutes of regular meeting held February 20, 2024. Motion was approved all voting yes.
  • Motion was made by Vallard Campbell and seconded by Josh Blaylock to approve payroll claims & purchase orders as presented. Motion was approved, all voting yes.
  • Bonds: None presented.
  • Motion was made by Jamie Oliver and seconded by Vallard Campbell to approve monthly fee report as presented by the LeFlore County Election Board and is on file if the office of the County Clerk. Motion was approved all voting yes.  
  • Motion was made by Vallard Campbell and seconded by Josh Blaylock to approve transfer of appropriations in the amount of $10,600 From Talihina Fire Dept. Lease and Rental account to Talihina Fire Dept Equipment account. Motion was approved, all voting yes.
  • Blanket purchase orders: None presented.   
  • New business: None presented.
  • Contract labor/service agreements: None presented.

Burn ban: No discussion.

  • Motion was made by Jamie Oliver and seconded by Josh Blaylock to approve appointment of Joe Mode as member to the Excise/Equalization Board by District Judge Jon Sullivan, filling a 2-year vacancy. Motion was approved., all voting yes.
  • Motion was made by Jamie Oliver and seconded by Vallard Campbell to table item regarding approval of plat maps for housing addition in Shady Point, Oklahoma. Maps to be provided by Brian Minks.  Motion was approved, all voting yes.
  • Motion was made by Jamie Oliver and seconded by Vallard Campbell to approve resolution allowing County Treasurer to reinvest surplus of County Health Department funds for March, 2024. Motion was approved, all voting yes.
  • Motion was made by Josh Blaylock and seconded by Vallard Campbell to approve request for financial assistance regarding repairs to Monroe Schools Baseball infield, outfield bleachers, backstop and dugouts with remaining County Commissioner districts 1 and 2 restricted ARPA funding aid in the amount of $8,588.11, erroneously stated as $10,713.11 on Agenda. Motion was approved, all voting yes
  • Motion was made by Jamie Oliver and seconded by Josh Blaylock to approve Minutes and Resolution accepting election results of the February 13, 2024 election regarding extending an existing ½ cent sales tax for the operation, repair and maintenance of the County Jail and Criminal Justice Facility County Courthouse and Annex, parking lots, streets, and other Capital Facilities, including OSU Extension Services offices, County Election Board and public meeting rooms and including capital improvements. Motion was approved, all voting yes.
  • Motion was mad by Jamie Oliver and seconded Vallard Campbell to approve addition of Tammy Hatcher as an authorized signor to the LeFlore County Refund Tax Account No. 103102591 held at Central National Bank effective February 26, 2024. Motion was approved, all voting yes.

Early voting starts Feb. 8

Early voting for the Feb. 13 elections for the board of education, primary school and special elections in LeFlore County starts Feb. 8.

LeFlore County election board secretary, Sharon Steele, said early voting is open to all voters.

Early voting is available Feb. 8 and Feb. 9 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the county election board at 103 North Church Street in Poteau. Steele said early voting is not available at polling locations.
