The shutout marked the third of the season for the Pokes, and they allowed only two hits, both singles, to tie their best showing of the year.
Tommy Molsky picked up the win for the Cowboys in relief of starter Janzen Keisel as Molsky improved to 5-0 by allowing just one hit and striking out three in two innings.
Keisel worked four innings and struck out four while also walking four. Ryan Ure, Drew Blake, Robert Cranz and Carson Benge completed the shutout.
The Cowboy offense was led by Benge, who went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs, while both Zach Ehrhard and Jaxson Crull recorded a hit, drew two walks and crossed the plate multiple times.
OSU jumped out to an early lead in the first on a two-run homer from Ehrhard following a leadoff walk to Crull. The round tripper was Ehrhard’s third of the season.
The home team tacked on a run when Crull scored on a wild pitch in the fifth to go up 3-0 then put the game away in the late innings.
OSU scored runs on a hit by pitch and a wild pitch in the seventh, then plated four runs in the eighth, the big blow coming on a three-run bomb off the bat of Benge.
The Cowboys return to action Friday when they open the Bedlam Series against Oklahoma at O’Brate Stadium. First pitch for the opener is scheduled for 6 p.m.
