Cushing achieves win over Poteau, 6-5
CUSHING—Cushing broke a 5-5 tie with a run in the eighth inning Saturday to stay undefeated by defeating Poteau for the regional championship and qualify for the Class 4A state tournament this week.
Poteau actually led 4-0 in the Pirates’ hope to win the game and force the “if” game to decide the regional championship.
Cushing, now 25-0, started fighting back and scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings.
