Dale defeats Panama, 9-3
SHAWNEE—Panama’s best baseball season in recent history came to an end in the opening round of the Class 2A state baseball tournament as the Razorbacks lost to Dale, 9-3. Thursday at Shawnee High School.
The eighth-ranked Razorbacks finish, 26-6. Second-ranked Oktaha advances to the semifinals against Cashion with a 27-4 record.
Dale scored five runs in the bottom of the second and added two more in the third before Panama scored three times in the top of the fourth. The Pirates added a single run in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings.
Brex Caldwell pitched three innings, allowing four hits and seven runs, six earned, with six strikeouts and nine walks. B. Wiles threw three innings, giving up two hits and two runs, both earned with one strikeout and three walks.
The Razorbacks managed only four hits with no extra base hits. Caldwell ended his high school career going 1-3 after hitting five home runs in Panama’s regional last week.
