1964—Burglars rob the Sinclair Station south of town. Officer Bill Dyson saw doors were open and he saw merchandise stacked on the floor. He chained the burglars inside and went for help…Heavener Merchants Association will hold a downtown sidewalk sale. This will be the first one held in Heavener…Transwestern Video is constructing two towers on the mountain east of Heavener to bring television stations from Tulsa and Fort Smith to Heavener…300 white bass stocked in Wister Lake…Rockman Texaco has a 1957 hardtop for sale…The Patio Drive north of Heavener has Sunday specials.

1954—Heavener Industrial Authority offering $100 reward for anybody who brings new industry to Heavener…Annual Stapp-Zoe carnival is Oct. 25 this year…New 1955 Chevrolets to be displayed at Heavener Auto Sales…Feeders Service Co. has gone out of business. Smittle Grocery will take over the sal of Purina Feeds…Restrictions on water usage for Heavener has been lifted. Water pumped from Cedar Lake has water running over the City Dam…Get a free Betty Crocker iron with the purchase of a Eureka-Roto-Mattic vacuum from the Oklahoma Tire & Supply Co.

1944—Major William Potts, 22, was seriously injured while serving with General Patton in France…Mr. and Mrs. John Nobles of Mount Pleasant have five sons serving in the military…Annual FFA Livestock Show was a big success…Annual Heavener High School carnival to be held Friday in high school gymnasium.

90 YEARS AGO

1934—Charles “Pretty Boy” Floyd’s trail of crimes came to an end on a farm near Liverpool, Ohio, Monday. Floyd, a native of Sallisaw, was gunned down as he attempted to escape from federal officials…Another robbery added to list that has plagued Heavener merchants over the last few months…Ladies fashion show to be held at Liberty Theater. Models include Emmett Addison, Gene Blackwell, Lewis Johnston, Mack Hall, Bill Gose and others…Large crowd gathers at Heavener Airport to greet some 21 airport that landed here…New six-cylinder four door Chevrolet is just $540 at Heavener Auto Sales.
