Funeral service for David R. “Buck” Moody of Heavener is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Heavener First Baptist Church with Brother Sam Dyer, Ray Lumen and Mike Andrews officiating.

Burial

Burial will follow in the Reichert Cemetery, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.

Dates

He was born Sept. 21, 1940 in the Conser community of Heavener to Dave and Neoma (McBride) Moody and passed away Jan. 1, 2023 in Heavener at the age of 82.

Bio

Buck was a long-time resident of the area. He was a Conductor for the Kansas City Southern Railroad until he retired. He was a veteran, where he served in the United States Army during the Peacetime.  Buck was a member of the Heavener First Baptist Church, Heavener Masonic Lodge 32nd degree, United Transportation Union, and the Shriners. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Buck was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.  He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Survivors

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte A. (Winters) Moody, of the home; one daughter Amber LeFlore and husband Jeff of Heavener; one son Brandon Moody and wife Jennifer of Heavener; two sisters Pat Deere of Heavener and Gwenda Wiles and husband Don of Ochelata; five granddaughters Lexi, Abbi, and Ashlyn Moody of Heavener, and Tayler and Alex Ollie of Heavener; one great-granddaughter: London Ollie of Heavener; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends whom loved him very much.

Preceded by

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Addicay Mann; two nephews Tommy Jo Wiles and Dwight Luman; and one niece, Delana Ester.

Pallbearers

Pallbearers are Henry Fortner, Steve Chitwood, David Grubbs, Sr., Joe Harbuck, Quinton McGee, Danny Yandell, Jay Hill and Danny Love. Honorary pallbearers are Roger Clubb, Bud Lockhart, Melvin McKay, Gary Fortner, Leon Fortner, Jim Shadwick, Tommy Newcomer, Vonnie Gentry and Dewayne Schiffner, Sr.

Viewing

Viewing is from noon until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
