Funeral service for James Gilby 

Funeral service for James Gilby, 77, of Pocola is 10 a.m. Friday at Haven Heights Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas with Steve Young officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery in Pocola, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Pocola.

He was born Jan. 9, 1946 in Salem, Illinois to Dorothy Virginia (Powell) Gilby and John Wallice Gilby and passed away Feb. 3, 2023 in Fort Smith.  

Survivors include his sons James W Gilby and wife Lacinda L of Quitman, Arkansas, and Mark A Gilby of Cedarville, Arkansas; brothers John C Gilby and wife Barbara of Velma, and Richard (Dick) Gilby and wife Judy of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren Kailee Gilby and Devon Romick of Van Buren, Arkansas, Dakota Gilby and Olivia Shelley of Osceola, Missouri, Linsey Duggan of Quitman, Arkansas, Damion Zaste and Amber of Quitman; great grandchildren Kashton and Oakley Romick, Joseph and Brynnleigh Gilby, Trenton, Trinity, and Hope Zaste, Mika and Willow Duggan, Dawson and Harper Shelley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Edna Gilby.

Pallbearers are Dennis Brambl, Keith Willet, Dustin Wilet, Damion Zaste, Dakota Gilby, Devon Romick, John Gilby and Kelly Gilby.

Visitation is Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Pocola.
