Graveside services for August Grover Monks, 91, of Panama is 11 a.m. Monday at Shady Point Cemetery with Jim Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Point Cemetery, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He was born Aug. 20, 1933, in Cameron to Dave and Minnie Monks and passed away Nov. 25, 2024, in Panama.
Surviving family members are his daughters Barbara Monks and Kathy Buttress; son Randall Monks and wife Tina; four grandchildren Kelly Young, Ashley Mize, Patrick Monks and Billy James Buttress; eight great-grandchildren Wyatt, Grayson, Kinley, Reed, Moses, August, Brock and Lexi; one brother Frank Monks and wife Avon; and his beloved dog, PeeWee Monks.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Viola and Lois; and three brothers, Alfred, Dave, and W.C. The family extends a special thank you to his loving caregiver, Cynthia.
August’s family invites those who knew him to come and celebrate his life and legacy.
