Heavener’s boys went from playing their best game of the season Tuesday against Pocola to having an off-night Friday against Wilburton in the Wolves’ basketball homecoming night.

The Wolves struggled throughout the night while Wilburton seemingly could not miss as the Diggers took a 58-38 win in the opener before Heavener’s girls completed the season sweep of the Lady Diggers with a 48-37 win in the late game that was not as close as the final score indicates.

Heavener’s boys are 10-9 overall while the Lady Wolves improve to 5-14. Heavener plays at Hartshorne Saturday. Wilburton’s boys are 8-12 and the Lady Diggers are 2-16.

Earlier in the week, Heavener took Pocola to overtime and almost scored the upset against the LeFlore County Tournament championship. The Wolves played the first game Friday since it was homecoming and it seemed like the time change and homecoming activities took a toll on them.

Heavener trailed virtually the entire game and Wilburton stayed hot in avenging a 46-36 loss at home to the Wolves on Jan. 7.
