PRYOR – Poteau’s hopes of another trip to the state tournament came to an end here Saturday as the Pirates were eliminated by Hilldale, 16-13.
The Pirates finish at 15-18. Hilldale forced another game in the tournament by defeating Pryor, 1-0, in a later game.
At one point, Hilldale had a 12-1 lead before Poteau scored 11 runs in the top of the fourth inning to tie the score before the Hornets added four more runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Pierce Ballard started for Poteau and went 1.1 innings, allowing five hits and six runs, four earned, with two walks and a strikeout, Dax Collins pitched 1.2 innings, giving up three hits and six runs, three earned, with a strikeout and four walks before Hudson Burdick finished up, going three innings with four runs, all earned, and two walks.
Caden Fox was 2-3 with three RBI and a run to pace Poteau at the plate, Collins was 2-4 with two runs and a RBI and Calloway Warren had a 2-4 outing with a run scored.
