LeFlore County’s final two football playoff teams will be back in playoff action Friday.
Pocola (9-2) faces a long road trip against a difficult team in a Class A-I quarterfinal game at Hooker (10-1) with the only loss by two points to Sunray, Texas in the opener. The Indians opened with a 52-14 win over Tonkawa while Hooker beat Minco, 20-0.
The trip is so long, it was mentioned on social media that there are 12 states that are a closer drive for Pocola over Hooker.
The winner of Friday’s game advances to the semifinals against the Pawnee and Cashion winner. Hooker defeated Cashion in a district game earlier in the season, 54-14. Pawnee downed Panama, 30-7, in the opening round of the playoffs last week.
Talihina (10-1) is home in a Class A-II quarterfinal playoff game, but the Golden Tigers also have a difficult opponent in Texoma/Goodwell (8-3) including an 81-0 win over Cordell in a district game earlier in the season.
While finished in a three-way for district champion with Regent Prep and Central, but got the top seed due to playoff points. Texoma finished third in its district behind Thomas-Faye Custer and Mangum.
The winner of the Talihina/Texoma game plays in the semifinals next week against the Thomas/Faye Custer and Hominy game.
