Legislation authored to block WHO mandates

By Rep. RICK WEST

Legislation I authored that would prohibit the State of Oklahoma from enforcing any mandates or recommendations by the World Health Organization, the United Nations, or the World Economic Forum has been scheduled for conference committee. This will allow final language to be worked on before the bill comes back to a vote in each legislative chamber.

Senate Bill 426 would allow the state to accept recommendations and guidance from entities outside the ones listed above, but would save us from being forced to accept mask, vaccine or medical testing mandates by these global organizations that do not always have the best interests for our citizenry. The bill would also prohibit these organizations from gathering any public or private information about Oklahoma residents.

Under this legislation, municipal and county health care facilities and departments would be free to set their own public safety policies, procedures and guidelines, they just wouldn’t be forced into accepting mandates by these global entities. Federal funding that flows from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services should not be affected.

We’ll see how this bill emerges from the conference committee, but I believe it is of great importance to protect the health care rights of Oklahomans.

Also last week, I participated in a Zoom meeting with Sen. George Burns and LeFlore County Commissioner Jamie Oliver to talk about road conditions in the Zafra community. We met back in March with representatives from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and several area logging companies. Oliver is requesting the logging companies help repair the roads they use, which are in pretty bad shape. The county is spending a bunch of money to try to fix these roads, and Oliver is proposing he can provide equipment and manpower if the companies will provide materials. Going forward, I’ve suggested this be spelled out in easement agreements the county signs with these companies to use county roads.

As always, if I can help you with anything, feel free to call my Capitol office at (405) 557-7413 or email me at [email protected].
