Donald “Don” Eugene Frost of Heavener was born Dec. 12, 1940 in Heavener to Daniel Bennett and Lola Mae (O’Neal) Frost. He went home to be with the Lord Nov. 1, 2024 at his home surrounded by family in Heavener at the age of 83.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Wednesday at Heavener First Baptist Church with Brother Bud Vinson, Brother Sam Dyer, and Brother Brock Hardin officiating. Burial will follow in Heavener Memorial Park, with military honors provided by the Poteau Chapter #63 DAV under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.

Don was a long-time resident of the area. He was a 1959 graduate of Heavener High School, a graduate of Eastern Oklahoma State College, where he was the football captain, and a graduate of Oklahoma State University. Don was a teacher, basketball coach, and taught driver’s education at Heavener High School until he retired in 1992. He was also a poultry and cattle producer. Don was a member of the Heavener First Baptist Church, Heavener VFW, Heavener Masonic Lodge #154, Heavener Lions Club, Oklahoma Educators Association (OEA), and Leflore County Teachers Association. He was a veteran of the Vietnam era. Don will be missed by all whom loved and knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lucretia Frost, of the home; two daughters Melissa Dawn Jackson of Heavener, and April Angela Smith and husband Cody of Heavener; one brother Bill Frost and wife Betty of Rover, Arkansas; six grandchildren Sydney Paige Pickle, Shelby Cox and husband Garrett, Lillian Burton and husband Brent, Morgan Smith, Meredith Smith and Olivia Smith; four great-grandchildren Westen Rimer, Brentley Jones, Tanner Sisco and Charlie Taylor; “Good Friend” Cesar Hernandez and Caleb Kirby; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom loved him very much.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Lola Mae Frost; and two brothers, Daniel and Jack Frost.

Pallbearers are Bill Frost, Billy Frost, Ben Frost, Lane Frost, Kyle Frost and Cody Smith

Honorary pallbearers are Cesar Hernandez, James Payne, Don Manlove, Dillon Beard, Garrick Caldwell and Caleb Kirby.

Viewing is from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. until noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
