Obituary for Joe Beacher Dees

Joe Beacher Dees, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully Jan. 29, 2025, in Spiro at the age of 90.

Born Oct. 6, 1934, in Tucker to Beulah May (Higgins) Dees and Walter Louis Dees, Joe lived a life defined by love, resilience, and unwavering devotion to his family. 

Joe was a man of quiet strength and deep kindness, always putting his loved ones first. He was preceded in death by his parents; his cherished wife of 62 years, Ora Inez (Akins) Dees; his daughter, Cathy Boyd; his granddaughter, Misty Catlett; 11 siblings: Cecil, Leslie, Earnest, Samford, William, Arnold, Lynn, Beulah May, Barbara, Evelyn and Lucille.

Though Joe endured great loss throughout his life, his heart remained full of love for those he leaves behind.

Surviving family members are three sons Larry Turner and wife Cheryl of Booneville, Arkansas, Darryl Dees and wife Tamie of Muldrow, and John Dees and wife Jennifer of Keota; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Joe’s life was one of dedication—to his family, his faith, and the values of hard work and integrity. Whether sharing stories, lending a helping hand, or simply being a steady presence, he touched the lives of all who knew him.

Honoring him as pallbearers are Kaleb Heffner, Jackie Smith, Allen Burney, Cordell Ramsey, Tobler Turner and Dustin Dees.

Joe Beacher Dees will be deeply missed, but the love he shared and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him. May he rest in peace, reunited with those who went before him, in the arms of everlasting love.
