Linda Kay Speers of the Hontubby community was born April 11, 1945 in Kansas City, Missouri to James Price and Ruby (Carman) Cotten and passed away Oct. 11, 2024 at her residence at the age of 79.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Friday at Big Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Philip Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Whitesboro Cemetery, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.

Linda was a long-time resident of the area, a homemaker, and a member of Big Creek Baptist Church. She loved sewing, gardening, cooking, diamond painting, and spending time with her family and friends. Linda was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors are three sons David Bigelow and wife Connie of Greenwood, Arkansas,

Johnny Bigelow and wife Debbie of Whitesboro, and Matt Speers and wife Jenni of Heavener; two daughters Donna Nelson and husband Garland of Heavener, and Wilma Lynn and Sean Britton of Gloucester, Virginia; one sister Scherry Barless and husband Mike of Newberg, Oregon; 13 grandchildren Brian and Kelly Hurt, Joel and Samantha Hurt, Leslie Bailey, Emily Speers, Caleb and Brittney Speers, Tucker Stepp, Haylee and Colten Philpot, Terri and Robert Morrow, Christopher and Aslynn Rainwater, Jason James, Jennifer Wilson, James Wilson, and Jessica Goodman; 25 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby Cotten and James Price; her husband, Arlen Speers; two brothers Dewayne Price and James “JR’ Price; two sisters, Joyce Ann Keepers and Hazel Price; and one great-grandson, Paul Lester Emdy II.

Pallbearers are Caleb Speers, Tucker Stepp, Christopher Rainwater, Harley Johnson, Jamie Means and Joel Hurt. Honorary pallbearers are Brock Rainwater, Jason James, Terry McBride, Brian Hurt, Colten Philpot and Bryce Rainwater.

Viewing is from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, 9 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. until noon, Friday. The family will have visitation with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
