Obituary for Mary Davis

Mary “Marie” Davis, 85, of Poteau (formerly of Haw Creek) was born Aug. 22, 1937 in the Reichert Community in Heavener to Orville and Viola (Ford) Nobles and passed away May 3, 2023 in Poteau.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Monday at the Family Praise and Worship Center in Heavener with Reverend Don Benefield and Brother Tanner Turk officiating. Burial will follow in the Page Cemetery, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener,

Marie was a longtime resident of the area, a homemaker, and a member of the Big Creek Baptist Church. She loved gardening, singing, working puzzles, playing cards, spending time with her family and friends. Marie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.

Surviving family members are three daughters Doris Latchison and companion Stephen Culp-Volkmar of Waldron, Arkansas, Gail Gray and husband Robert of Red Oak, and Patty Simmons of Poteau; two sons Clifton Davis and wife Alberta of Heavener and Melvin Davis of Haw Creek; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous other loved ones and a host of friends whom loved her very much.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Viola Nobles; her husband, Melvin “Dick” Davis; one son, Jerry Davis; and one grandson, Stephen Simmons.

Pallbearers are her grandsons.

Viewing is from noon until 6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday; 1 until 6 p.m. Sunday, and 9 a.m. until noon Monday at the funeral home.
