Obituary for Opal Crabtree

Opal Imogene Crabtree, 90, of Seminole (formerly of Howe) passed from this life on Friday, Nov. 17, 2023 in Seminole. Opal was born Oct. 19, 1933 in Howe to William Angus Thrift and Ada (Ary) Thrift.

Graveside services are Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Howe Cemetery with Brother Andre Ming and Brother Larry Stacy officiating. Burial will follow in the Howe Cemetery, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home in Heavener.

Opal spent the majority of her life in the Howe area and after moving to the Seminole area she worked for 16 years at the Wrangler Plant in Seminole. Opal loved reading and studying her bible and was a strong prayer warrior.

Opal married James Crabtree Sept. 27, 1951 in Greenwood, Arkansas.

Opal is survived by her sons David Crabtree of Seminole, and Kenny Crabtree and wife Debbie Crabtree of Howe; her daughter Carol Houck and husband Dwayne Houck of Seminole; five grandsons and one granddaughter; 11 great-grandchildren; her sister, Gertrude Shankal, of Cedarville, Arkansas; a special friend, Kim Middleton; numerous other family members and a host of friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Crabtree who died Jan. 27, 2020; and her son, Dale Crabtree.

Viewing is from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be: her family.
