Graveside services are Wednesday

Phyllis Carol Heavener of the Conser community was born July 20, 1933 in Seattle, Washington to Carl and Elizabeth “Betty” (Evans) Schwendeman and passed away Sept. 14, 2024 in Heavener at the age of 91.

Graveside service is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Reichert Cemetery in Heavener with Leroy Heavener officiating. Burial will follow in Reichert Cemetery, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.

Phyllis was a longtime resident of the Conser community and a member of the Perry Chapel Baptist Church. She was the bookkeeper for Lake Wister State Park until she retired. Phyllis also worked as the Heavener City Clerk for many years. She was an avid reader, history buff and enjoyed watching Jeopardy. Phyllis loved spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Phyllis will be dearly missed by many who loved and knew her.

She is survived by one daughter, Susan Elizabeth Heavener, of Hontubby; one son Joseph Heavener and wife Angela of Heavener; seven grandchildren Arlo Bruesch, Rachel Morton and husband Jack, Jesse Bruesch, Jolie Kannady and husband Clayton, Walker LeMay and significant other Erika McGee, Erika LeMay and significant other Trevor Smith, Joseph R. Heavener, Jr. and wife MacKenzie; honorary grandchild Mary Oliver and husband Dustin; 11 great-grandchildren Rhiannon, Lily, Arlis, Skyler, Eden, Elise, Jekobi, Rylee, Dax, Blakely and Holliday; one great-great-grandchild, Cypress; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman Ray Heavener; and one brother, Carl Schwendeman.

Pallbearers are her grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the local Humane Society in honor of Phyllis.

Viewing is from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
