Obituary for Raymond Othel Sutmiller

Raymond Othel Sutmiller, 89, of Fort Smith, Arkansas (formerly of Poteau) was born March 24, 1935 in Wilburton to Samuel Darrell and Rena (Mosteller) Sutmiller. He went home to be with the Lord July 2, 2024 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Funeral service is 10 a.m. Friday at the East Side Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas with Reverend Sam Dyer, Reverend Bob Fowler, Reverend Chad Mann and Reverend John Earnhart officiating. Interment will follow in Heavener Memorial Park, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.

Raymond was a graduate of Panola High School, a graduate of Eastern State College in Wilburton, where he received his Associates degree, and then attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee. He was a stone mason for many years. Raymond loved gardening and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the East Side Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Raymond will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Lee Sutmiller of the home;

One son, Brent Lee Sutmiller of Fort Smith, Arkansas;

One sister Sue Reynolds and husband Jim of Bartlesville;

One brother, John Sutmiller of Monroe;

Two granddaughters: Selena (Sutmiller) Thompson and husband Dan. and Madeleine Sutmiller;

Numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, other loved ones, and friends;

He was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Rena Sutmiller.

Pallbearers are Nick Ford, Randy Friend, Chuck Peacock, Ron Featherston, Ceborn Miller and Bill Pitchford. Honorary pallbearers are Harold Sanders, Buford Latta, Bob Hilt, Brad Harris, Danny Yandell and Dan Haggard.
