Robert O’Dell

Robert “Bob” Dean O’Dell of Hodgen was born Oct. 6, 1933 in Maxdale, Texas to J.D. O’Dell and Daisy (Murphy) O’Dell and passed away Feb. 18, 2024 in Heavener at the age of 90.

Service

Graveside services are 1 p.m. Friday at the Maxdale Cemetery in Killeen, Texas with Brother Brock Hardin officiating under the direction of Dowden Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.

NOtables

Bob retired from AT&T after 32 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, playing golf, and cheering on the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma State Cowboys. He will deeply missed. Robert was a member, a deacon, and a Sunday School teacher at Heavener First Baptist Church.

Survivors

Surviving family members are his wife of 66 years, Shirley O’Dell, of the home; one son James O’Dell and wife Susan of Claremore; two grandchildren Jacy Donnelly and husband Sherrod, and Kirk O’Dell; a wonderful group of nieces, nephews, other loved ones, and a host of many friends.

Preceded by

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy Goodnight; and a brother, William O’Dell

Visitation

He will lie in state from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home.
