Sylvia Marie Chronister, 81, of Heavener was born to Willie and Dessie Summers June 28, 1943 in Sallisaw at the foot of Wild Horse Mountain and passed away comfortably in Heavener Jan. 10, 2025.
A private family service will be held at a later time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.
She was a loving, nurturing person who devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and caring for the elderly. Sylvia began her career at Vista Nursing home in 1980, and later transitioned to Pocola Nursing home. She served the residents as a CNA, CMA, Social and Activity Services Director, Medical Records Clerk and Transport, serving the residents with over 30 years of experience and dedication. Sylvia loved to bowl and played in a bowling league for Vista Nursing Home. She also enjoyed to fish, mostly in the trees and enjoyed bingo, dominoes, crosswords, solitaire, coffee, second-hand shops, Ice Road Truckers television show, and her cat Possum. Sylvia was known for her charismatic personality and fun-loving nature. Sylvia will be genuinely missed by so many.

She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Summers; her mother, Dessie Summers; her sister, Audrey Thornburg; her brothers William “Bud” Summers and Don Summers; and her daughter, Tonya Chronister.
