Tim Shipman. 70, of Heavener was born Dec. 16, 1954 in Poteau to Franklin and Flossie (Strother) Shipman and passed away Jan. 26, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, laughter and love.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Monday at the Cecil Leachman Rodeo Arena with Jerry Williams and Tyler Gardenhire officiating. Burial will follow in the Lovings Cemetery, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.
Tim was a true cowboy, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was president of the Heavener Round-Up Club from 1990-1998. Born with a love for ranching he spent his life in the saddle. His rodeo career was a testament to his courage and skill, riding bulls, broncs, and competing in team roping. He was as tough as they come, yet those who knew him best would tell you he had a heart of gold. His love for coon and hog hunting in his younger years was matched only by his love for his family and the ranch he ran with his beloved wife, Denise. Together, they built a life filled with hard work, joy and unwavering commitment.
Known for his ornery spirit and sense of humor, anyone that ever met him definitely has a story to go with it. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a man of integrity, always quick to lend a hand and offer a word of wisdom, but never afraid to share a laugh or a tall tale.
Tim leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He was the epitome of the cowboy spirit, a man who lived life on his own terms, with an open heart and a true passion for the things that he loved. His family takes comfort in knowing that he is now riding with the wind, his boots firmly planted in the stirrups, and his memory will live on in the stories he told and the lessons he imparted.
Surviving family members are his wife, Denise Shipman, of the home; three daughters Leannda Goodrich and husband David, Mikah Britt and husband Kyle, and Ronnie Joe Miller and husband Rob; one son, Cactus Shipman; two sisters Wilma Owens and Carolyn Ward; three brothers David Shipman, Mark Shipman and Daryl Shipman; seven grandchildren Baylee Garcia, Brylee Goodrich, Oaklee Britt, Denim Shipman, Madison, Carter and Ryne Miller; four great-grandchildren Zoilee Garcia, Zaleeah Garcia and Nyxlee Laughter; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loved ones, and friends who were blessed to know him.
