Obituary for Tommie Lee Williams

Tommie Lee Williams of the Lovings community was born Aug. 8, 1949 in the Haw Creek community to Virgil Williams and Susie (Ayers) Williams) and passed away Jan. 10, 2025 in Poteau at the age of 75.

A memorial service to honor Tommie’s life is 2 p.m. Thursday at the Freedom House Fellowship, 20977 Independence Road in Heavener, with Brother Sam Dyer and Brother Bob Cherry officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.

Tommie was a life-long resident of the area and a 100 percent disabled Army veteran, serving his country in the Vietnam era. He was a logger, owned and operated Williams’ Service Station in Heavener for several years, and was a cattle and poultry farmer. Tommie was an avid hound’s man and coyote hunter.  He had suffered a lot in the past two years and it just finally came to a halt. He has passed through the golden gates of Heaven to wait for his family and friends. See you later, Pop.

Surviving family members are his wife of 53 years, Patsy Williams, of the home; three sons Bethel Williams and wife Kristy, Ross Williams and wife Carie Jo, and Marcel Williams and wife Ashley all three of Heavener; two sisters Virgie Steelman of Wister and Judy Irvin of Heavener; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and enough friends (old and new) to fill up Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Patsy Vinson.

The family will visit with friends from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the church.
