Obituary for Wes Martin

OKLAHOMA CITY – Wesley “Wes” Leroy Martin, 85, of Oklahoma City (formerly of Panama) was born Feb. 16, 1937 to Wesley and Audie (Rogers) Martin in the Buck Creek Community in Panama.  He went home to be with the Lord May 5, 2022 in Oklahoma City at the age of 85.

Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Calhoun Baptist Church in Shady Point with Reverend Steve Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in the Shady Point Cemetery, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.

Wes was a longtime resident of the area and a member of Calhoun Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Panama High School. He retired from Whirlpool. Wes volunteered his time mowing the lawn and doing upkeep around Calhoun Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Wes will forever be loved and missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Martin; three sons John Martin, James Martin and wife Eileen, and Joe Martin and wife Tracy; one sister, Virgie Morrow; 11 grandchildren John Martin, Jr. and wife Suzie, Christopher Martin, Jacob Martin and wife Heather, Nicholas Martin and wife Allie,

Tayler Martin and wife Brittney; Justin Battin, Zach Ward, Kendra Longhofer, Megan Haigler, John Martin and Jace Martin; 15 great-grandchildren Caleb Kolp, Sam Martin, London Martin, Eleanor and Blair Martin, Taylee Zoey, Matthew, Madison, Madilyn, Keelan, Abbi, Kenzi, Norah, Ellie, Isaac and Ada Joe; one great-great-grandchild, Ambrose Kolp; and an abundance of close family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wesley and Audie Martin; seven sisters Angeline, Margie, Faye, Gladys, Earline, Pat and Wanda; one brother Arlin Martin; and one grandson Jacob Martin.

Viewing is from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. The family will have visitation with friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Bobby Martin, Don Martin, Doyle Martin, Jacob Martin, Nicholas Martin and Tayler Martin.
