Their win on the afternoon marked their first season sweep over DU since the 2022-23 season.

Makyra Tramble led the Golden Eagles in scoring, logging 14 points and knocking down three triples in the process. Howe’s Jalei Oglesby followed Tramble, with 13 points while Taleyah Jones and Ruthie Udoumoh scored 11 points each. Udoumoh shot 5-9 (55.6%) from the field and grabbed eight boards. Meghan Weinrich also had an impressive game, scoring five points while grabbing eight boards and four steals.

ORU fell behind early as Denver kicked off the afternoon with a 15-3 run in the first 5:45 of the game. It seemed as if the Golden Eagles couldn’t get a shot to fall in the first, shooting just 5-17 (29.4%) from the field to Denver’s 11-19 (57.9%). ORU went into the second quarter down 12-25.

Both teams were cold in the second quarter with just 20 total points scored (ORU-12, Denver-8). Makyra Tramble made a triple with 7:13 left in the second to cut ORU’s deficit to eight (17-25). Towards the end of the quarter, Mary Carden made an emphatic and-one layup to give the Golden Eagles some momentum heading into the half, down nine (24-33).

Taleyah Jones and Makyra Tramble traded back-to-back threes to open the third despite the similar eight-point deficit (30-38). ORU was back in a rhythm after halftime, shooting 9-15 (60%) from the field in the quarter. A 7-0 run followed from the Pioneers extending their lead back to 15 before a 14-10 run from the Golden Eagles to close the half cut their deficit to 11 entering the fourth (44-55).

The fourth quarter began with three layups from Tramble, Udoumoh and Weinrich before Tramble hit a three to cut the Denver lead to six (54-60) with 7:01 to play. Jalei Oglesby kept ORU on fire, making back-to-back layups, one of which was an and-one, recording five straight points by knocking down the free throw. While ORU held Denver scoreless in the final 2:33 of the game, Emily Robinson came up clutch, hitting a huge three with 1:25 to go. Down just one (66-67), the Golden Eagles got a stop on the other end before Robinson took it to the rack to give ORU their first lead of the game (68-67). One more defensive stop by the Golden Eagles sealed the game as ORU moved to 11-1 at the Mabee this season.
