DENVER – Oral Roberts‘ women overcame a three-point barrage from Denver 79-72, in basketball on the road Saturday, picking up their 14th win this season.

Jalei OglesbyMakyra Tramble kept ORU in this one, scoring 17 points while shooting 6-12 (50%) from the field. Tramble also drained four threes, grabbed six rebounds and recorded two steals. Taleyah Jones and Jalei Oglesby of Howe followed close behind Tramble, scoring 15 and 14 points, respectively. Ruthie Udoumoh and Meghan Weinrich also ended the game in double-figures, scoring 12 and 10 points on the evening.

A four-point run from 6:27 to 4:35 helped ORU regain momentum mid-quarter. The Denver three-point attack thwarted ORU’s defense in the first, knocking down seven threes. A four-point run from 6:27 to 4:35 helped ORU regain some momentum mid- quarter but ORU was left in a 20-28 hole after one.

A Makyra Tramble triple tied the game up with 7:03 left in the second quarter before Taleyah Jones made a layup to give the Golden Eagles their first lead of the game. ORU and
DU continued to trade baskets until the Pioneers caught fire again, ending the half on an 8-1 run to put the Golden Eagles down 37-45.

Taleyah Jones kicked off the second half with back-to-back threes before Meghan Weinrich hit a jump shot to tie the game at 48 with 5:52 to go in the third. ORU extended their lead to two until the Pioneers sparked an 8-0 run to extend their lead to six (52-58). Jalei Oglesby closed out the quarter for ORU, scoring a layup before Denver charged down the court, hitting a last-second three-pointer (55-61).

The Golden Eagles outscored the Pioneers 24-11 in the final quarter, holding Denver to just 4-15 (26.7%) shooting from the field and 0-4 (0%) shooting from the arc. ORU had a strong performance from the free throw line in the fourth, shooting 9-13 (69.2%) compared to their 18-30 (60%) total free throw percentage. Five offensive rebounds to Denver’s one and 11 defensive rebounds to Denver’s seven, helped the Golden Eagles gain extra scoring possessions to clinch their 14th win of the season.
