Pocola, Howe girls to meet for LCT

The Pocola and Howe girls will meet for the 2025 girls’ basketball LeFlore County Tournament  championship after the two teams won semifinal games Thursday night at Spiro.

 

This will be the second straight year for the two schools to battle for the championship after Pocola won last year’s title, 53-41, and the fourth time in the last five years they have met in the finals.

Pocola crushed Panama, 63-26, and Howe rolled into the finals with a 77-43 victory over Talihina.

The girls’ championship is 7 p.m. Saturday, also at Spiro. In the only meeting so far this year, Pocola defeated Howe, 79-45, on Jan. 4.

The boys’ semifinals are Friday. Top-seeded Pocola plays Howe at 7 p.m. with the Panama and Heavener boys playing the late game between the second and third seeds.

The boys’ title will be decided at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

In games to decide the consolation championship Thursday, Poteau’s girls defeated Arkoma, 38-22, and Whitesboro’s boys topped Cameron, 42-38.

Prior to the boys’ semifinals Friday, the two fifth-place games will be played. For the girls, Spiro and Whitesboro play at 4 p.m. with Talihina and Poteau squaring off at 5:30 p.m.
