For a pair of schools separated by 277 miles and different districts, Class 4A powers Clinton and Poteau are developing a pretty good rivalry.
For the third time in a just a little less than a decade, the two schools meet in the Class 4A playoffs 7 p.m. Friday at Costner Stadium. It is a matchup of two of the last three state champions and comes two years since Clinton defeated Poteau, 17-10, in a controversial ending as it appeared the Pirates had tied the score with a touchdown pass, but the officials ruled that it was an interception.
