Poteau assistant football coach Payton Werner announced on X that he is taking the head football coaching position at Glenpool High School.
Werner is the son of former Poteau Coach Greg Werner, who led the Pirates to the 2019 state championship. The younger Werner served on Poteau’s staff for four years.
Glenpool, an opponent of Poteau in District 4A-4, was 1-9 last year, defeating Stilwell in the final game of the year.
