Spiro drops pair of games at Vian

VIAN – Spiro lost a pair of high school baseball games in a three-way at Vian Saturday.

The Bulldogs, now 2-2, are back in action Saturday at Roland.

Spiro dropped the opener to Vian, 3-2, before coming up short against Prairie Grove, Arkansas, 13-9, in the second game.

In the opener, Vian scored all three runs in the bottom of the fifth after Spiro scored twice in the top half of the inning.

Corbin Miller went the first three innings for Spiro, giving up three hits with two strikeouts. Blake Dedmon came on in relief, pitching two innings and allowing four hits and three runs, one earned, with a strikeout and a walk. Kota Perdue finished the final inning with a strikeout.

Gannon Shackleford doubled twice and was 3-3 with a RBI and Bryan Hammontree doubledand finished 1-3.

Against Prairie Grove, Spiro fell behind 8-0 after two innings and never recovered.

Hunter Sparks pitched one inning, allowing three hits and five runs, all earned, with four walks, Perdue went an inning, giving up four hits and three runs, all earned, with a strikeout and two walks, Shackleford pitched two innings, allowing four hits and three runs, all earned, with two strikeouts and a walk, Zander Riggs pitched 1.1 innings, giving up a run with one walk before Shawn Hogan pitched the final two-thirds of an inning, letting Prarie Grove score a run on a hit with one walk.

Corbin Miller doubled and was 3-4 with a run, Perdue went 3-4 with two RBI, Blake Dedmon doubled and had a 2-3 outing with three runs, Shackleford finished 2-4 with three RBI and Jordan Johnson doubled while going 1-4 with a run
