KINGSTON – Spiro defeated Kansas for the first time in three tries and pushed Kingston in the 3A regional championship game before coming up short Saturday.
The Bulldogs opened with a 5-3 win over Kansas before losing to Kingston, 8-5. Kingston advances to the 3A state tournament while Spiro finishes 22-14
In Saturday’s opener against Kansas, Spiro broke a 1-1 tie with a three-run rally in the third inning to take the lead for good.
Dakota Perdue pitched all seven innings to get the win for Spiro. He allowed only five hits with three runs, two earned, with seven strikeouts and four walks.
Zander Riggs doubled twice and was 2-2 with two RBI and a run, Blake Dedmon went 2-3 with a run scored and Perdue doubled while going 1-3.

Against Kingston in the championship game, Spiro built a 3-0 lead before the Redskins rallied.
Riggs started for Spiro and went three innings, allowing three hits and three runs, all earned, with three strikeouts and three walks, Corbin Miller also threw three innings, giving up eight hit and five runs, all earned, with three strikeouts and a walk.
Perdue led the Bulldogs by going 2-3 with two RBI and a run and Riggs had another double and went 1-2.
