If I had known I would live this long, I would have taken better care of myself
Well, after a much-needed month of rest, I still have a long row to hoe to find my new normal. Chores at home were overwhelming, and I overworked myself trying to get ahead. However, it was that last 20 minutes of weed-eating that got me. I have a better plan of attack that doesn’t include me. I’m going to hire someone to do the yardwork — lesson learned.
Don’t wait too long to say I love you because I was certainly not planning on leaving when this good chance came along. I am going to scattergun the emotion and say “I love you” to all my friends and family that I don’t see every day. I almost missed the chance.
I AM BACK! Maybe I can’t jump as high, but I am still willing. I was comforted through it all that I was not in control, God has been. Jesus took the wheel for a while. Grace and mercy carried the day. I am grateful. Thank you, Lord.
I missed several of my favorite spring events and some awesome dances. I will do my best to cover current shows with vim and vigor — its definition is energy and enthusiasm. Though I’m no longer young, I’m still full of vim and vigor.
As for live music this week, The Coffee Cup will have Open Mic Nite beginning at 6 p.m. Friday. Bring a song and sign up.
Crocky’s Cafe in Hackett, Arkansas, will have a very spiritual weekend starting with “Shady Oak Tribadours” at 6 p.m. Friday. Then, on Saturday, “Full Chapel Praise Team” will sing gospel and praise music starting at 6 p.m.
“Rhythm Coalition” will be at J.J.’s Grill on Phoenix Avenue in Fort Smith, Arkansas, beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Dawn’s Diner in Red Oak will have “Big Marty and the Dirty Dogs” on Saturday. The dance will start at 7 p.m.
“Make it a Double” (Connie and Dave Abbott) will be at the McAlester Veterans of Foreign Wars Building on Saturday. The dance will begin at 7 p.m.
That ain’t all I got to say, but it’s all I got. Thanks for all the prayers — they were a comfort.
