Entering the New Year, I’m eager for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. As we step into 2024, I carry with me the hope that this legislative year will be even more fruitful and impactful than its predecessor. Reflecting on 2023, I have a very deep appreciation for how we as Oklahomans have pulled together and supported one another through another year. As we approach Nov. 11, a day that holds profound significance for our nation, it is fitting to reflect on the rich history and enduring legacy of Veterans Day. Originally designated as Armistice Day in 1919 to honor the fallen heroes of World War I, this day of remembrance evolved into Veterans Day following the conclusion of World War II. Now, for over a century, our country has devoted this day to expressing gratitude and paying tribute to the brave men and women who have served in our armed forces.
