Talihina sweeps Vian for district championships

TALIHINA—Talihina swept Vian to win their Class 2A district basketball tournaments here Saturday night.

The Lady Tigers opened with a 52-36 win before Talihina completed the sweep with a 67-44 win in the second game.

Both Talihina teams advance to next week’s Class 2A regional tournaments. Both Talihina teams host Pocola Thursday with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys taking the court at the conclusion of the first contest.

The Lady Tigers improve to 12-9 while Talihina’s boys are 11-8. Vian, which plays Warner in the losers bracket of the regional tournament, fall to 8-13 for the boys and 4-20 for the Lady Wolverines.
