Texas man dies from off-road accident
A 61-year-old man from Copper Canyon, Texas, died when the 2002 Jeep he was driving up a steep rock trail overturned and killed him.
Wilbur Owens was pronounced deceased at the scene, approximately 34 miles east of McAlester in Pittsburg County.
Owens was partially pinned and partially ejected in the accident. He was not wearing a seat belt. The Jeep was equipped with airbags, but they did not deploy.
The accident was investigated by Trooper Trey Robers, assisted by Pittsburg County sheriff’s department, Hartshorne police, Community EMS and Blanco Fire Department.
