Unemployment rate drops for county

The unemployment rate edged down for the majority of counties in Oklahoma in August, according to the most recent report from the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission.

Rates were down from the same time period a year ago in 34 counties, up in 27 and the same in 16.

McIntosh County had the highest rate at 5.8 percent, trailed by Haskell County.. Dewey Count had the lowest rate at 1.8 percent.
