Unemployment rate rises in May, 2024

Unemployment rates in May were higher this year than the previous year in 70 counties, lower in five counties and unchanged in two.

McIntosh has the highest unemployment percentage at 6.1 percent, Seminole County was second followed by Latimer. Dewey County had the lowest unemployment rate of 1.9 percent.

LeFlore County’s rate was 4.4 percent, up from 3.8 percent in April and 4.0 in March. Last year the total was 3.8 percent for the month.

LeFlore County had the 65th highest unemployment percentage for the month. The work force was 20.458 with 19.552 employed and 906 out of work.

For April, the work force was 20,111 with 19,451 employed and 760 unemployed.
