Unemployment rate rises to 4.8 percent
Latimer County had the highest unemployment rate in Oklahoma for June at 6.8 percent as rates were higher than the previous year in 70 counties, lower in six and unchanged in one, according to the latest report by the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission.
Dewey and Grant counties had the lowest rates at 2.1 percent for June.
LeFlore County’s rate for the month was 4.8 percent, up from 4.5 percent in May and 3.8 percent in April. In June of 2023, the county had a rate of 4.3 percent. Currently, the county has the 68th highest unemployment rate in the county.
For the month, LeFlore County had a work force with 20,815 with 19,824 employed and 991 out of work. For May, the work force was 20,407 with 19,497 individuals employed and 910 out of work.
