Wister blows past Navajo
Wister advanced to the semifinals of the Class A fall baseball state tournament with a 13-1 win over Navajo Thursday at Edmond Sante Fe.
The Wildcats advance to play Wright City at 11 a.m. Friday, also at Edmond Sante Fe, in a state semifinal game.
The winner of the Wister and Wright City game advances to the state finals against the Okarche and Rattan winner at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City.
The fourth-ranked Wildcats improve to 21-8 while Navajo ends its season with a 22-10 record.
Thursday’s game was tight through three innings as the Wildcats led 4-1, before Wister rallied for nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to end the game by run rule.
Dartyn Meeks got the win for Wister. He went all five innings, giving up two hits and the one earned run. He struck out 11 and walked five.
Ethan Thornburg doubled and was 2-2 with two RBI and a run, Jagger Dodson finished 2-4 with two runs and two Rbi and Jayden Byars doubled while going 1-2 with a run and a RBI.
